Bhalla Criticizes BJP for Neglecting Bagh-e-Bhau Tourist Circuit

Jammu, September 25: Working President of the Jammu and Kashmir Pradesh Congress Committee (JKPCC) Raman Bhalla, along with former ministers Yogesh Sawhney and Yash Pal Kundal, visited the neglected pilgrim-tourist circuit spanning Bagh-e-Bhau to express grave concerns about its deteriorating conditions.

The delegation highlighted the shocking state of road connectivity that has worsened under the BJP-led administration over the past decade. Visiting key areas such as Balidaan Stambh, Har ki Poudi, and Herbal Garden, Bhalla noted that the crucial project was initially conceptualized, contracted, and completed by Congress prior to 2014.

“The BJP has completely neglected this pilgrim-tourist circuit for 11 years, resulting in its current dire condition. Recent rains exacerbated the situation, leading to extensive damage,” Bhalla stated, demanding immediate repairs and restoration of the tourist route.

Bhalla criticized the BJP for their failure to maintain and upgrade infrastructure, accusing them of abandoning their responsibilities towards pilgrims, tourists, and local residents. He stressed the importance of the pilgrim-tourist circuit, not only for tourism but also for the local economy.

“The government’s failure to conduct regular maintenance led this once-thriving area to a state of disrepair. The authorities have ignored their duties in preserving vital infrastructure for the local population and visitors,” he added.

Targeting the BJP further, Bhalla and other Congress leaders condemned its hollow promises and slogans regarding the beautification of Jammu and development of tourist spots. “Their claims of promoting pilgrim tourism have proven to be an utter failure,” claimed Bhalla.

Fellow leaders accompanying him, including Diwan Chand, Latish Sharma, and Mangat Ram, echoed his sentiments, asserting that the BJP had failed Jammu on multiple fronts. They pointed out that the tall claims of development and creating a smart city have unraveled in the face of recent disasters caused by heavy rains and floods.

“People are suffering from man-made disasters due to the government’s negligence. It has become increasingly clear that the BJP’s commitment to improve the situation is nothing but a façade,” remarked Kundal.

As Congress leaders urged the government to prioritize urgent repairs, they highlighted the need for a long-term vision to revitalize the Bagh-e-Bhau tourist circuit. The leaders emphasized that a well-maintained infrastructure is crucial for attracting tourists and enhancing the local economy.

The visit ended with a call for accountability from the BJP government, instigating promises for improvements beyond mere words. The Congress party aims to mobilize local support and push for immediate action to restore the circuit.
