Nineteen-year-old Aarav Mahajan from Jammu has secured a place in the 18-member Uttarakhand Ranji Trophy squad, a significant achievement for the young cricketer ahead of the upcoming domestic season.
Aarav earned his spot following a standout performance in various age-group tournaments including the Cooch Behar Trophy (U-19), Vinoo Mankad Trophy, and the CK Nayudu Trophy (U-23). During these competitions, he amassed nearly 700 runs, including three centuries and three fifties at the U-19 level.
In the U-23 format, Aarav further showcased his talent with a commendable 87-run innings. His consistency with the bat has not gone unnoticed, as he attended three National Cricket Academy (NCA) camps, including the recent session at the BCCI’s Centre of Excellence.
Last season, Aarav ranked 17th among the top U-19 run-getters in India. Despite narrowly missing a national team call-up, his remarkable performances have clearly paved the way for his elevation to the senior ranks.
Experts believe that Aarav’s inclusion in the Uttarakhand Ranji Trophy squad represents a pivotal step in his career, amplifying his visibility in Indian cricket.
The Uttarakhand Ranji Trophy Squad consists of: Kunal Chandela (Captain), Prashant Chopra, Bhupendra Lalwani, Avneesh Sudha, Yuvraj Chaudhry, Shashank Dangwak, Anjana Suryavanshi, Jagdeesha Suchit, Mayank Mishra, Harsh Patwal, Sourav Rawat (WK), Janamjai Joshi, Devendra Bora, Rajan Chaudhury, Abhey Negi, Jagmohan Nagarkoti, Sagar Rawat, and Aarav Mahajan.
