15 Illegal Structures Demolished in Anantnag Amid Drug Crackdown

The District Administration of Anantnag has launched an intensified crackdown on drug dealers by demolishing 15 illegal structures in Waghama, Bijbehara on Saturday. This action forms part of a larger effort under the 100-Day Nasha Mukt J&K Campaign, aimed at dismantling narcotic networks in the region.

Through a collaborative effort, the revenue authorities, with support from the police department, targeted illegal constructions that included several shops built on State and Kahcharai lands, specifically in Khasra Nos. 2494 (min) and 2495 (min). Officials reported these structures were linked to individuals facing charges under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act.

This operation not only resulted in the demolition of these illegal establishments but also facilitated the retrieval of encroached State and Kahcharai land. This signifies a pivotal step towards reclaiming public property that had fallen victim to illegal occupation.

The District Administration has emphasized a strict and sustained approach against drug peddlers and unlawful encroachments, reaffirming their commitment to maintaining a zero-tolerance policy. Authorities stated that dismantling properties linked to the drug trade remains a crucial strategy in disrupting the supply chain of narcotics within the district.

In a stern warning, officials reminded the public that any involvement in drug-related activities or illegal land encroachments will result in severe legal action in the near future. This campaign not just targets immediate structures but seeks to dismantle the very networks supporting illegal drug trade in Anantnag.

The Nasha Mukt J&K Campaign serves as a comprehensive initiative aimed at not only drug enforcement but also promoting rehabilitation and awareness among communities. It encourages local citizens to participate in creating a drug-free society, which is vital for the overall wellbeing of the region.

As authorities proceed with stricter regulations and enforcement tactics, the importance of community support becomes increasingly clear. Residents are urged to report any suspicious activities related to drug trafficking or illegal encroachments to help maintain the integrity of their neighborhoods.

This strong stand taken by the Anantnag District Administration illustrates the broader governmental strategy to combat drug abuse in Jammu and Kashmir, aiming for a safer, healthier future for its residents. By reclaiming illegal structures and land, the government reiterates its role in fostering a sustainable environment devoid of drug-related risks.
