On September 30, Jammu & Kashmir BJP President Sat Sharma (CA) harshly criticized the Congress, National Conference (NC), People’s Democratic Party (PDP), and other political parties for their “opportunist politics” that he claims have hindered the region’s growth.
Sharma made these remarks during the inauguration of the Namo Exhibition at Gulshan Chowk, Bandipora, held as part of the ongoing Seva Parv for Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s birthday celebrations. Senior leaders, including J&K BJP General Secretary Anwar Khan and District President Bandipora Mudassir Farooq Jan, attended the event.
During his speech, Sharma fiercely attacked the INDI alliance’s partners, especially targeting the dynastic political practices of Congress, NC, and PDP. He stated that for decades these parties have thrived on “nepotism, corruption, favoritism, and opportunism”. Their self-serving governance, according to Sharma, plunged Jammu & Kashmir into darkness, depriving its people and leaving youth with shattered dreams.
Sharma contrasted this with the transformative leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, emphasizing significant positive changes since 2014. He said, “The Modi government has broken the shackles of corruption and favoritism, introducing transparency and accountability.” Sharma noted how the government has made strides in infrastructure, economic reforms, social justice, empowerment of marginalized communities, and strengthened national security, painting a vision of a ‘New India’.
He vehemently argued that the differences between the hollow promises of the INDI alliance and the substantial results delivered by Modi’s government are evident to every citizen. Sharma said, “The developments are no longer obscured by decades of betrayal by the previous governments. The contrast is stark, and the people of Jammu & Kashmir see it clearly.”
Anwar Khan elaborated on the Namo Exhibition, describing it as a reflection of Modi’s milestones, showcasing his sacrifices and visionary plans, unlike the INDI coalition, which he claimed stands as a symbol of corruption and betrayal.
Mudassir Farooq Jan echoed these sentiments, asserting that under Modi’s guidance, India and Jammu & Kashmir have achieved a new global identity. He declared that the BJP will continue to take these advancements to the public at a mission level.
The criticisms from Sat Sharma come at a time of heightened political activity in Jammu & Kashmir, as various parties prepare for upcoming electoral challenges. Sharma’s remarks are a part of the BJP’s broader strategy to bolster its narrative against dynastic politics and to emphasize its commitment to development and transparency.
