Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha and Chief Minister Omar Abdullah extended their warm greetings to the people of Jammu and Kashmir on the eve of Vijayadashami and Gandhi Jayanti on October 3, 2023. In his message, LG Sinha said, “On the joyous occasion of Vijayadashami, I extend my warm greetings and good wishes to all for their happiness, well-being and prosperity. Vijayadashami symbolises the victory of good over evil and righteousness over unrighteousness. On Gandhi Jayanti, commemorating Mahatma Gandhi’s 156th birth anniversary, Sinha expressed his tribute: “I pay my heartfelt tribute to the Father of the Nation. This is an occasion for all of us to rededicate ourselves to internalize Bapuji’s ideals of peace, non-violence, truth, tolerance, compassion and selfless service. Bapu dedicated his life for India’s freedom, social equity and rural development.” His emphasis on Gandhiji’s principles highlights a call for social responsibility.
Moreover, Sinha urged citizens to embrace the Swadeshi movement, stating, “I appeal to all people to buy Swadeshi products and support local artisans and cottage industries.” His focus on promoting self-reliance aligns with the current push for sustainable local economies.
