BJP national general secretary and party in-charge for Jammu & Kashmir, Tarun Chugh, sharply criticized National Conference president Farooq Abdullah on Monday for his remarks undermining Operation Sindoor. Chugh defended the sacrifices of security forces involved in counter-terrorism efforts amidst Abdullah’s claims that the operation “did not achieve anything.”
Responding to Abdullah’s derogatory comments, Chugh expressed his dismay, stating it is “shameful” that the Abdullah family does not respect the sacrifices made by the armed forces. He emphasized that these forces had destroyed multiple terrorist training centers in Pakistan after 26 civilians were mercilessly killed by Pakistan-sponsored terrorists in Pahalgam.
Chugh highlighted that Operation Sindoor is ongoing, describing the recent blast at Nowgam Police Station as “yet another reminder” of the bravery exhibited by security forces who are currently neutralizing Pakistan-backed terror plots.
He accused the Abdullahs, Muftis, and the Gandhi family of consistently aligning with Pakistan and the ISI, despite their prominent political positions in India. Chugh expressed his shock over Abdullah’s questioning of security forces at a time when the J&K Police and intelligence agencies successfully uncovered one of the “biggest terror conspiracies” in recent years.
Chugh directly targeted Abdullah, questioning whether he sympathized with those who had amassed 2,900 kilograms of explosives intending to kill thousands of innocent civilians. He described the foiled terror plot as “colossal in scale”, warning of unimaginable devastation that could have occurred had it not been intercepted by the J&K Police.
During the incident at the Nowgam Police Station, nine police and revenue personnel tragically lost their lives while handling the seized explosives. Chugh labeled this loss as “heartbreaking for the entire nation” and stated Abdullah’s failure to acknowledge such sacrifice only serves to propagate a narrative that aligns with Pakistan.
Chugh accused Abdullah of utilizing the tragedy to further the “language of Pakistan” instead of acknowledging the bravery that likely saved countless lives. He stated that Abdullah had “chosen to echo the sentiments of the Pakistani Army and the ISI,” thereby exposing the so-called ‘Gupkar Gang’.
The BJP leader raised concerns about whether the Congress party and Rahul Gandhi support such attitudes while endorsing their political campaign labeled “Mohabbat Ki Dukaan,” emphasizing that national security should take precedence over political rhetoric.
